For those keen to improve their homes’ energy efficiency but needing help with the upfront costs, interest free COSY loans are now available from East Hampshire District Council.

The loan will cover the full cost of improvements and spread repayments over up to five years.*

To apply for a loan, homeowners need to get at least two quotes for the work they want done, and the loan will fund the cheaper of the two.

If you’re not able to apply straight away, register your interest in the loan before February 28.

The council will then honour the current loan terms for your application until April 30, subject to funding being available.

Those on a low income or benefits may be eligible for a grant for the cost of energy efficiency improvements to your home.

EHDC portfolio holder for Regeneration and Prosperity Cllr Rob Mocatta said: “Many residents will be feeling the pressure of rising fuel costs and an inefficient home will cost a lot more to keep warm, particularly when it’s as cold as it has been recently.

“There’s help available for the lowest paid, but even if you’re reasonably well paid, the cost of big improvements can feel like a bit of a stretch.

“That’s why we’ve extended this scheme to include all of the costs and allow plenty of time to pay the loan off.”

* Only homeowners and landlords can apply.

Interested tenants should contact their landlord about the scheme.

A COSY loan is secured against the value of the property and a borrowers home may be at risk if they fail to make payments.
