REGISTRATION is open for a moonlit walk in aid of the only adult hospice serving north Hampshire.
The annual walk under the stars is being hosted by St Michael’s Hospice in Basingstoke on September 10.
Dedicated to providing care for people in north Hampshire, including Alton, affected by life-limiting illness, service provision this financial year will cost £3.8m, with just 19 per cent funding from the North Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group, leaving £2.8m to be found through fundraising events such as the Moonlight Walk.
More than 240 people joined in last year, walking with their families, friends or colleagues to raise a whopping £22,000, and this year it is hoped to do even better. Men, women and children of all fitness levels will be walking the eight-and-a-half-mile course with walkers passing through areas such as Kempshott and Hatch Warren.
Groups, clubs and companies are all encouraged to get their members and colleagues together to enter a team, said an event spokesman.
Registration opens at 8.30pm inside Festival Place with the warm up starting at 9.45pm.
Pre-registered prices are £17 for adults £10 for children aged 17 and under. Registration on the night costs £20 per adult and £12 per child. Family tickets are also available for £45, for two adults and two children.
