BROOKHAM Nursery was turned into a Winter Wonderland with different textures and activities to help develop children’s sensory learning, literacy and numeracy.

Kids made paper snowmen to strengthen their cutting skills, painted and decorated them with snowy puffy paint, read books, fiction and non-fiction, to develop their literacy.

A small ‘snowy world’ was created where they could re-enact what they had learnt from books as well as an ice cave with soft toys for role play activities.

Children also used info and computer techonology skills to gain facts about cold icy environments and used numbered paper penguins to help enhance their learning.

The week finished with an exciting opportunity to play in the snow – with the help of a snow machine.

Toddlers from the local community were also invited to visit and enjoy the last day of the special week, as part of the school’s programme of fun themed activities for two to three year olds, which is open to all.

For more information on parent and toddler mornings, which are held on selected Thursday and Fridays, visit www.brookhamschool.co.uk. Forthcoming events include ‘Fairy Tales’ and ‘Oats in the Forest.’
