CHILDREN at the ARK Nursery had fun taking part in their first ever sports day, held at the Liphook Church Centre, off Portsmouth Road.
They started the inaugural event by getting warmed up dancing to their favourite tunes.
Blessed with glorious sunshine, children completed a variety of fun tasks, joined by staff and parents. They went round an obstacle course in teams, took part in an egg and spoon race and tried out hoola hoop dancing.
All activities were organised by joined heads, Alison Jackson and Ruth Gove, who took over running the nursery in May.
Ruth told The Herald: “Our ARK sports day was not about being competitive, but about joining in, rather than winning or losing.
“The children received a sticker for each activity they took part in and a certificate, for completing their first ever sports day.
“We had a tent in the garden so that they could take a rest as well as several drinks stops and an abundance of ice lollies.
“They all had a wonderful time and enjoyed their picnic afterwards,” Ruth said.
Looking back on the nursery’s first year, she added:
“This a very special place, which is developing into the community serving venture it always set out to be.”
