According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2018 is The Year of the Dog.

And Little Sailors at The Royal Junior School showed their “puppy love” at a celebratory New Year assembly.

Daycare pupils in optimists and nippers classes came dressed as dogs and paraded to the song ‘Who Let the Dogs Out?’

Toppers also decorated tabards with the 12 signs of the Chinese Zodiac, while lasers sang a special song and put on a dragon parade.

Nursery pupils in toppers and lasers wore red to symbolise good fortune and joy, while comets reception class made their own red envelopes.

Red envelopes with a monetary gift inside, are traditionally given in Chinese society on special occasions.

All the children wished their parents and friends ‘Gong xi fa cai’, which means Happy Chinese New Year, and the assembly ended with a prayer, also read out in Chinese.
