HAMPSHIRE County Council and contractor Raymond Brown are inviting residents to a public exhibition on Tuesday at The Phoenix Theatre in Bordon.
From 10am to 2pm guests will be able to learn about the relief road construction, review detailed plans and ask questions about the scheme’s development.
Sean Woodward, the county council’s executive member for economy, transport and environment, said: “Whitehill and Bordon is to benefit from major regeneration over the next 20 years and this relief road will be integral to its infrastructure.
“The road will underpin the area’s regeneration, supporting the redevelopment of the Louisburg Barracks and improve access to the area.”
The relief road route will start at the Whitehill crossroads in the south and travel north, along the formerly abandoned railway line, before routing through Louisburg Barracks and reconnecting with the A325.
Ferris Cowper, leader of East Hampshire District Council, said: “I have always stressed the importance of getting the infrastructure of the town right and in place before housebuilding starts and I am very pleased that the relief road work is underway.
“The public exhibition will include a chance to see plans, ask questions and find out more about the relief road so I would recommend that as many people as possible from the local area take an interest and goes along.”
Adam Carew, leader of Whitehill Town Council added: “The event on Tuesday, December 8, is an excellent opportunity for the public to find out more about the work and how it may affect them over the coming months.
“Motorists won’t be the only group to benefit - the road is being built with cyclepaths, pedestrian footways and consideration for wildlife in the area.”
Work on phase one of the relief road started on Monday, September 28, and the project is due to be completed in the autumn of next year.
