Mike and Alison Lyons from Bordon watched the Queen’s state funeral in the communal atmosphere of Bordon Working Men’s Club because Alison was working there.

Alison, 55, said: “I thought it would be nicer to sit with company than on my own. A lot of people watched it at home then came here. And it was a lovely buffet that Mike and Jennie English did.”

Alison described the event as “lovely, absolutely beautiful” while Mike, 60, thought it was “very respectful”.

Alison added: “It was emotional at times. It was such a big occasion that nobody has seen before. It was a historical moment and we won’t see her again. There’s going to be a big change.”
