SOUTH East Water is due to carry out maintenance over the next five weeks on the network within the GU30 7 postcode sector, starting today.
The process is called flushing and involves directing water through pipes quickly to draw sediment deposits out of the network.
South East Water claims while these naturally occurring deposits are not harmful, customers may see discoloured water temporarily, which can be resolved by running the main tap until the water runs clear.
The routine work is carried out to help maintain the quality of drinking water.
In addition, the water company is warning that some customers may also notice a temporary reduction in water pressure.
