Alton Rotary Club members have packed more than 50 Christmas boxes with goodies for families in Ukraine.

The shoe boxes were packed by president-elect Lisa Hillan, Biola Ameri, her husband Igor and their daughters.

Biola and her children came to Alton as refugees from Ukraine a few months ago, and Igor came here recently.

Biola, who joined the club after coming to Alton, said she and her family had been made very welcome in the town. Lisa is the family’s host.

Christmas cards written in Ukrainian were included in the boxes, which were decorated in the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag.

Rotary clubs in the district hope to send 1,000 Christmas boxes to Ukraine. Lisa would like to thank all who provided items for them.
