LIPHOOK man Nick Sear organised a two-day charity bike ride, raising £1,000 for the Barnabas Fund which has been spotlighting the plight of Christians in the Middle East.

Christians are specifically targeted by Islamic State fighters in their ruthless campaign to eliminate every trace of Christian presence in the region.

The charity has been supporting refugees fleeing Syria and Iraq by helping to find them a safe haven in Poland and other countries whose governments are supporting this humanitarian crisis through Operation Safe Havens.

Also taking part in the bike ride was Bramshott vicar Reverend Valentine Inglis-Jones and several other members of the Anglican church. They chose to follow the challenging route set out for the annual LiDBA bike ride, covering 25 miles each day.

To donate, leave a gift in an envelope marked ‘Charity Bike Ride’ at the Church Centre Office, off Portsmouth Road, Liphook. Cheques should be made payable to the Barnabas Fund. Alternatively, donate online at barnabasfund.org/donate.
