THE wait is almost over for lovers of Liphook Carnival.

The fun starts at noon on Saturday with the children's fancy dress competition at Bohunt Centre, with judging taking place at 1pm.

Children's and adult floats, adult fancy dress and push-and-pull participants will then assemble in Longmoor Road at 5.30pm.

Entertainment and the crowning of this year's Carnival Queen, Alice Shires, by Downton Abbey actor Hugh Bonneville and 16-year-old Paralympic medal winner Olivia Breen begins in The Square at 6.30pm, with the procession making its way around the village from 7pm.

And the evening will be rounded off with the traditional bonfire and fireworks display in Radford Park at 8.30pm.
