THE MANAGER of Borovere Care Home in Alton won six medals at Walt Disney World in Florida during its runDisney long-distance running weekend.
Karen Shepperdson completed 5km, 10km, half-marathon and marathon runs – 48.6 miles – over four days to earn her haul.
She has finished the London Marathon eight times and run many others around the world, collecting hundreds of medals.
Karen has taken part in the runDisney weekend since 2011, although last year’s event was cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic.

All the residents at Borovere, run by Greensleeves Care, told Karen how proud they were of her. Her Mickey Mouse and Pluto medals were particularly popular.
Karen very much appreciates the backing of the residents and staff at Borovere.
She said: “This event was extra special as the previous one was cancelled because of Covid, so it was great to be back, despite the fact I did fall over!
“The support I receive from everybody at Borovere is second to none. The residents in particular love to see my medals and photos from the races, and I love to be able to share the experience with them.”
