Electric candles were handed out and Whitehill town mayor Cllr Leeroy Scott read a speech, with Cllr Bisi Kennard holding a torch so he could see his notes.
Whitehill Town Council leader Cllr Andy Tree said: “I marked the start and end of the minute, timed by town clerk Lorraine Jeffs, with a whistle. We then all sung the national anthem, God Save The King.”
Residents also put flowers and notes on the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee cherry tree.
