AS the grim news of spending cuts spreads across the county, East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) has been slammed after it announced a budget gap of more than £750,000.

With a decision likely to be ratified at a crucial cabinet meeting next Thursday, council taxes are set to be frozen for the coming year and any shortfall in revenue will be taken from the district council general reserve fund which currently stands at just below £2m.
