A Mexican wave of optimism has swept the nation following the World Cup heroics of Bellingham, Kane and The Three Lions in The Azteca Stadium early on Monday.
And with England now in the quarter finals, pubs and clubs in the Bordon area are hoping to kick on with Norway next up on Saturday.
Local hospitality figures the Herald spoke to on Tuesday have only reported a small boost in trade since the tournament began because of late-night fixtures.
The Shed was probably the busiest of the few venues that stayed open for the thriller in Mexico City, with dozens watching on the big screen, but things should be very different this weekend with Harry and Haaland battling it out in Miami at 10pm.
Anita Warren of The Greatham Inn said there were some new faces for the Mexico match, but is expecting a big crowd this weekend.
She said: “The World Cup has definitely made a difference, but not too much.
“I think this Saturday could be busy because it’s a better time and we’re in the quarter finals.”
It’s been a similar story at The Woodlark with some new faces popping in, but staff are confident of a big boost this Saturday.
Graham Symes of The Royal Oak in Hollywater said around 40 people stayed out (very) late to watch the Mexico match in his pub, but he expects things to be “heaving” this Saturday.
“The World Cup hasn’t had a massive effect on things and last night (early Monday) we probably did half a day’s extra trade,” said Graham, adding that band Rocked Up will provide pre-match entertainment on Saturday.
“We’ve had, I would say, around 95 per cent of the same people through for every game, but I know we’re going to have a pile up on Saturday.”
