THERE was a huge standing ovation at Haslemere Prep School for the only Second World War code-breaker still alive – who broke Hitler's most secret cyphers.

Captain Jerry Roberts, 92, from Liphook (pictured), is the last survivor of the nine cryptanalists who worked on Tunny, the most secure wartime code used by the Germans.

During a landmark talk aimed at inspiring the young audience, he told how he was a senior cryptanalyst at the Government's secret Code and Cypher School at Bletchley Park, which obtained vital signals intelligence by breaking high-level encrypted enemy communications.
