BRAMSHOTT Open Gardens committee – under the guidance of its president Tony Rudgard – has launched preparations for the village’s biennial event due to be held in June.
Presentations were also made to retiring committee members Chris and Rita Holden, for their many years of service and hard work in helping to make each BOG a success.
The weekend-long festival will again feature a wide range of private gardens for visitors to enjoy. This year the village hopes to open 25 gardens, including some for the very first time.
The group’s chairman Craig Mc Gregor told The Herald: “Visitors will be able to stroll in large formal gardens with wide sweeping lawns, or enjoy smaller garden bursting with ideas and inspiration.
“With riverside locations, cottage gardens, ponds, formal vegetable and herb gardens, rose gardens, terraces and lawns – there is alway a lot to see.”
The two-day event – on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 – will feature a licensed tea tent, a barbecue, afternoon tea in private gardens, a concert recital in St Mary’s Church, and a scroll of remembrance as the village marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.
There will also be a flower festival and plant sale, a display of vintage motorcycles, a gnome hunt for children as well as a tombola with more than £1,000 worth of prizes.
