BLESSED with glorious summer weather, participants of this year's carnival walk gathered at their new base – Whiteley's, near Passfield, on the outskirts of Liphook – on Sunday morning, raising more than £300.
Fortified with the pub's popular bacon and sausage baguettes, more than 30 walkers and several dogs set off on two, four-and-a-half or nine-mile circular routes, taking them through picturesque countryside.
Whiteley's, in Stanford Lane, not only donated 20 per cent of their breakfast takings to the carnival committee, but also provided the prize of a meal for two to the highest sponsored walker, Katie Land, who raised more than £150.
Organisers will be rotating carnival walk venues each year to vary the routes.

Meanwhile, the 2012 carnival video is now available from the parish council's office on Midhurst Road, priced £5 – which goes toward funding the event.
