BORDON charity Furniture Helpline has welcomed a team of volunteers from Alton’s Laleham Health and Beauty.

The charity, which has been operating for more than 20 years, needed help creating storage for the furniture and clearing the reception area in its new premises.

Diane Page, from Furniture Helpline, said: “We were so thrilled to welcome the team from Laleham Health and Beauty, and with their engineering knowledge they were able to design and build pen-like storage for our many beds that we have on sale. Our charity offers low-cost furniture to people in East Hampshire and parts of Surrey.”

“I would like to thank Laleham for their day’s volunteering. They have enabled us to save money and reallocate resources to other areas that will make a difference to the community.

“We are always looking for volunteers to help in the warehouse, office or on our vans, so please get in contact if you are interested by telephone or via volunteerwessex.org,” added Diane.

Laleham Health and Beauty carry out a series of volunteering initiatives in and around the Alton area, organised by Community First.

Don Johnson, operations director at the company, added: “This has been a different volunteering experience for us as we have been really able to put our skills and expertise into practice, as we are from the engineering team.

“The Furniture Helpline does an amazing job providing low-cost furniture to people who are on low incomes and I hope that our small contribution to the charity helps them to continue with the excellent work they are doing.”
