BUSINESSES in Liphook and neighbouring villages were dealt a financial blow last week, as numerous credit card payments were held up by the computer crash at RBS and NatWest banks.

Trevor Beauchamp, who owns Liphook Cycles in The Square, was one of the victims who was starved of cash after payments did not go into his business account for days on end, leaving him overdrawn.

Some firms were left with so little cash in their accounts, they could not meet their staff's weekly wages.
