LONG-serving Lloyds Bank manager David Palmer celebrated his last day at the Liphook branch earlier this month, by treating customers to his home-baked cakes.

To celebrate 40 years working for the bank, David completed a 26-mile charity walk in aid of the Arrhythmia Alliance earlier this summer, which has now raised a total of £3,414.09.

He said: “I was really thrilled that our Liphook customers contributed a total of £967.85, and our Grayshott customers £609.50 toward the final amount.

“The walk was to raise money to help install defibrillators in schools in Liphook, Grayshott and Haslemere, which are the three Lloyds Bank branches I rotated between each week.

“The charity helps people with cardiac arrhythmia, which is the medical term for an irregular heartbeat or abnormal heart rhythm.

“I was also deeply touched by the response I have received from customers about my retirement and am looking forward to planning more charity walks in the near future as well as being able to concentrate on my activities with Complain Bowling Club.”

“Working at the Liphook branch has been really wonderful for me - with some of the friendliest customers, who I know I will miss.”
