BIG hearted four-year-old Arthur Veal won everyone over when he decided to do a charity walk for children less fortunate than himself.
The pupil of Wey Hill Montessori Nursery, who lives in Haslemere, set himself the target of raising £100 for children’s charity UNICEF UK by doing a sponsored walk of 2.6km around Little Frensham Pond.
Arthur was thrilled to find he had raised more than £340, when he completed the walk with the help of his parents and older brother on Sunday.
His mother Clare told The Herald: “We are super proud of Arthur. His kindness to others has been so impressive.
“He wanted to help children less fortunate by filling his suitcase with toys and food and distributing them himself.
“We decided a sponsored walk would be a more effective way of raising money.
“Arthur normally struggles to make it all the way round the pond, but he managed it on Sunday and was so proud of himself.
“He walked with his mummy, daddy and his big brother Fred, aged eight. He cannot believe how much money he has raised and how people gave so generously on the walk itself yesterday.
“A big thank-you goes to all Arthur’s family and friends, his teacher Miss Cath and everyone else who has supported and sponsored him.
“He is thrilled that his target has been smashed,” Clare added.
