A BRAND new way of giving is proving to be a hit at Applegarth Farm in Grayshott.
Managing partner Will Benson has signed up to the pioneering Work for Good platform, which allows participating restaurant customers to choose which of eight charities they would like Applegarth to donate 50 per cent of its profits to from their meal.
Diners who book the restaurant’s ‘giving’ table don’t pay any more for their meal, but have the satisfaction of knowing the charity they chose has benefited from their meal.
The high-profile initiative, which was co-founded by chief executive officer Danny Witter, a Grayshott-based former investment-banker-turned-social-entrepreneur, makes it easier for businesses to donate by removing the red tape.
Mr Benson said: “Work for Good is very revolutionary in the UK. It allows a business to give something back to the local community.
“One of our eight charities is Action for AT in Haslemere.
“I have a giving table that you can book and when you sit down you are given a card to tick which charity you want us to support. We work out how much of the profit from that sitting will go to that charity.
“We have had the giving table for a few months and customers love the idea.”
