A HASLEMERE bus service vital to patients could be axed by Surrey County Council's decision-making Cabinet next week.

The eagerly awaited report on the outcome of the Surrey Bus Review for Waverley and Guildford, which proposed major cutbacks in order to save £2.5million, has just been published on the county council website and its recommendations will be considered by Cabinet on, Tuesday.

If the changes are approved they will save the council £723,000 per year in subsidy costs and are due to be implemented on September 2.

Waverley councillors have strongly objected to the recommendation to drop the No. 70 service from Guildford to Haslemere and Midhurst via the A286 and Haslemere Hospital.
