SOUTH Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) is holding a recruitment day on Saturday at Southern House in Otterbourne.

The event is open to jobseekers, people looking to return to work after a career break, or people looking for a new challenge.

SCAS provides emergency care for patients in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire – an area covering approximately 3,554 square miles which has a resident population of more than four million people.

The service has a range of clinical and non-clinical, emergency and non-emergency vacancies it is looking to fill.

The event, which runs from 10am to 2pm and is organised on a drop-in basis, will give people the chance to find out what jobs are currently available, chat to existing staff and discover what it’s really like to work for one of the country’s best ambulance services.

In addition, there will be opportunities to see live demonstrations and a selection of Trust vehicles, have a guided tour of the clinical co-ordination centre, and meet with human resources representatives who can give advice on how to apply for any current vacancies.

For students currently studying for, or considering, their subject options at GCSE and A-level, members of the education team will also be on hand to talk about the various routes to becoming a paramedic.

As well as the roles located at SCAS office in Otterbourne, other available roles include those at ambulance stations across Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, along with head office roles in Bicester.

Further information about full-time, part-time and flexible working options will be available along with details of pay and enhancements, holiday entitlement, career progression and, most importantly, how to apply.

Victoria Dooley, human resources manager at South Central Ambulance Service, said: “SCAS was the first ambulance trust in England to be awarded a ‘good’ rating by the care quality commission and our people are justifiably proud to work for one of the best performing ambulance trusts in the country.

“I would urge anyone who is currently employed in healthcare and is looking for a fresh challenge, currently studying and considering where to begin their career, or someone who might be unemployed, between jobs or looking to return to work to come along to our recruitment open day in Otterbourne.

“The variety of roles that we have mean that whatever your skills and experience, you could be working for SCAS and making a real difference every day you come to work. There isn’t much better job satisfaction than that.”
