ALTON Lions Club has once again joined forces with Alton Citizens Advice to launch its annual Wenceslas Winter Fuel appeal.

In this, its ninth year, the campaign offers an opportunity for local seniors who are in receipt of, but may not actually need the government’s Winter Fuel Payment, to donate it to those who do.

Alton Lions president Atul Patel said: “With fuel and energy bills soaring, there is even more pressure this year on families and individuals who may be struggling to keep warm. This appeal enables people to donate their Winter Fuel Payment to Alton Lions Club in the certain knowledge that, together with Citizens Advice in Alton, it will go directly to where it is needed.”
