MEMBERS of Liphook U3A boules team enjoyed their annual Macmillan coffee morning at Milland Sports Club – raising a total of £277.70 for the charity.

The event included playing several matches, archery lessons led by member Colin Stopher, a raffle and plenty of home-made cakes.

After two years of uncertainty with the closure of the team’s Temple Inn terrain in Liss Forest, they received support from Milland Parish Council as well as funds from the Bonfire committee and the sports club to move to their new home.

Located off Fernhurst Road, it now features six pitches and has been a great success as well as a valuable service to the community, since it was opened this June.

The boules team, led by captain Captain Michael Smyrk currently has around 30 members from Liphook and surrounding villages, and always welcoming newcomers to the sport.

After celebrating its the first anniversary since the business’s name change, the team at Red Loxx hairdressing salon, in Haslemere Road, Liphook, held a successful Macmillan weekend, raising £321.

Owner Holly Vowels told The Herald: “We had so much support from our customers, who generously donated money to the charity.

“Recently, we asked some regulars to participate in a hairstyle model photoshoot for the salon, which will soon go on display in our windows.”
