A LIPHOOK teenager has been convicted of drink-driving just six months after getting his full licence.
Portsmouth magistrates heard an early-morning trip to McDonald’s in Petersfield proved costly for George Glazier.
The 18-year-old of Conford Road was seen “driving erratically” and swerving over the A272 around 2am on October 27.
The teenager, who was driving four friends to McDonald’s after a party, gave a positive breath test after being stopped by police.
The defendant was handed a year-long driving ban after admitting last Tuesday to driving while over the alcohol limit.
The court heard Glazier gave a recording of 40 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath with the legal limit being 35/100.
Natalie Dennington, for Glazier, said the defendant was “very surprised” to hear he was over the limit but regretted his decision and was “very remorseful” for his actions.
Magistrates also ordered Glazier to pay £277 in costs and charges and hoped the defendant had learned a “very hard lesson”.
The chairman of the bench added: “Just be thankful on this occasion no-one had been seriously hurt or killed. That was a very real possibility.”
