A COTTAGE on the A325 in Wrecclesham was completely destroyed by fire last Friday afternoon, despite the efforts of 35 firefighters.
The police also attended and closed the A325 in both directions opposite The Forest Inn pub. No injuries have been reported and the fire was finally extinguished just before 9.30am the following morning.
A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed crews from Surrey, Rushmoor, Alton, Odiham, Cosham, Basingstoke and Bordon helped tackle the fire.
“On arrival crews found the roof to be well alight,” the spokesman continued.
“The building was 100 per cent destroyed by fire, heat and water, with the fire stopped using four sets of breathing apparatus, four jets and one high-pressure hose reel.
“There were probably about 35 firefighters there at the height of incident, excluding relief crews.”
The destroyed cottage is located next to The Kiln Equestrian Centre, which took to Facebook on the evening of the blaze to confirm the house’s occupants were safe.
It wrote: “We at the farm are unharmed and all the horses are safe in their stables with lots of hay, food and water.
“The fire that has been reported is sadly our next door neighbour house, the family themselves are safe and have gone to a family member’s house for the night and the fire is under control thanks to the amazing fire crews.”
