RESULTS of concluded cases at the area’s magistrates’ courts over the past month:

Guildford Magistrates’ Court

* A “prolific offender” has been sentenced to a total of 16 weeks behind bars after pleading guilty to a five-month crime spree totalling 23 offences - including a number in the Farnham area - between July and November this year.

Jonathan Daniel Marchant, 34, of York Road, Guildford, was also told to pay £1,864 in compensation to the victims of his crimes, which included stealing a £1,300 bicycle from Halfords in the Farnham Retail Park, on Guildford Road, on August 8 and a charity collection box from the Esso petrol station off the A31 Hogs Back in Seale.

Marchant was handed additional jail time by magistrates on December 4 having previously been given a suspended sentence for stealing fuel from the Esso garage on September 3 - returning to pinch various items, including a charity box, on September 14.

Marchant also admitted stealing Champagne, bicycles, a vacuum cleaner, sunglasses, beer and oil from numerous retailers - mostly in the Guildford area - as well as numerous counts of fraud, burglary, theft and trespass, and possessing class A and class B drugs.

* Stuart Penfold, 33, of Hopfields Close, Farnham, was fined £660, told to pay £66 compensation, £85 costs and his licence endorsed with six points on December 7 after being proven guilty in his absence of driving above the 50mph speed limit on the M25 between junctions 15 and 16 on November 10, 2017.

* Daniel Frank Dominic Webb, 33, of Parsons Way, Tongham, was fined £150, told to pay £85 compensation, £85 costs and given a community order including a 12-day rehabilitation programme on November 29 after pleading guilty to assault by beating a woman and criminal damage in Tongham on November 12.

* Jordan James, 39, of Parsons Way, Tongham, was fined £870, told to pay £52 compensation and £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 15 months on December 4 after pleading guilty to possessing heroin and driving an uninsured car with no MOT while under the influence of cocaine and controlled drugs including benzoylecgonine in Ash on July 25.

* Peter Askey, 50, of Chestnut Way, Bramley, was fined £180, told to pay £30 compensation and £150 costs and disqualified from driving for 12 months on December 4 after being proven guilty in his absence of driving a Mercedes on the A31 Hogs Back when under the influence of cocaine, and in Lynchford Lane, Farnborough, under the influence of controlled drug benzoylecgonine, on January 9.

* A warrant was issued for the arrest without bail of Daniel Lowes, 46, of Three Stiles Road, Farnham, on December 4 after he was proven guilty in his absence of the non-payment of a £6.80 rail fare at Guildford station on September 25. A further warrant was issued for Lowes’ arrest relating to two counts of criminal damage.

* Nicholas Jamie Boxall, 39, of Linkway Parade, Fleet, was fined £220, ordered to pay £30 compensation and £155 costs on December 3 after being proven guilty in his absence of littering in Farnham on June 5.

* James Bernard Ellis, 50, of Moor Park Way, Farnham, was fined £650 and his driving licence endorsed with three points on November 16 after pleading guilty to driving a Mercedes large goods vehicle or passenger carrying vehicle over the 30mph speed limit on the B2221 in Epsom on April 25. Ellis, was also fined £650 and told to pay £65 compensation and £85 costs on November 16 after pleading guilty to driving the same Mercedes over the 60mph speed limit on the A31 Hogs Back at Puttenham on June 7.

* Jason Mobey, 40, of Macdonald Road, Farnham, was fined £80 and told to pay £130 compensation and £40 costs on November 11 after pleading guilty to causing criminal damage to a police custody cell in Guildford on October 20.

* Simon Peter Yeoman, 50, of Sumner Road, Farnham, was fined £219 and told to pay £30 compensation and £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 12 months on November 13 after pleading guilty to driving a Vauxhall car while more than three times over the legal drink-drive limit in Farnham on September 27.

* Shaun Anthony McMahon, 50, of Farnborough Road, Farnham, was handed a community order requiring him to complete a rehabilitation activity, told to pay £85 compensation and £30 costs and deducted £115 in benefits after pleading guilty to the assault of a man in Woking on May 30. McMahon was also given a restraining order, preventing him from contacting his victim.

Aldershot Magistrates’ Court

* Margaret Louise Smith, 53, of Carfax Avenue, Tongham, was fined £660, ordered to pay £66 compensation and £85 costs and her driving licence was endorsed with six points on December 10 after failing to identify the driver of an Audi alleged to have driven 36mph in a 30mph limit in Fleet on July 10.

* Matthew Mahoney, 29, of Farnborough Road, Farnham, was fined a £880, told to pay £66 compensation and £85 costs and had his driving licence endorsed with six points on November 29 after being proven guilty of driving an uninsured car on a revoked licence in Blackwater on July 7.

* Neville Dean Stephens, 41, of Keydell Close, Horndean, was fined £612, told to pay £61 compensation and £85 costs and his driving licence was endorsed with six points on November 29 after pleading guilty to driving a BMW at 99mph in a 70mph limit on the A31 near Bentley on September 21.

* Clwyd Lloyd Jones, 45, of Queens Road, Alton, was fined £761, told to pay £76 compensation and £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 30 days on November 27 after pleading guilty to driving an Audi at 118mph in a 70mph limit, on the A31 near Bentley on May 25.

* Kele Ellen Cole, 47, of Talbot Road, Farnham, was fined £660, told to pay £66 compensation and £85 costs and had her driving licence endorsed with six points on December 3 after being found guilty of driving an uninsured car in Southampton on August 3.

* Phillip Baker, 66, of Temples Close, Farnham, was fined £410, told to pay £41 compensation and £85 costs and had his driving licence endorsed with five points on December 10 after pleading guilty to driving 50mph in a 30mph limit on the A32 in Farringdon, near Alton, on August 1.

* Christopher William Abbott, 66, of Sheridan Close, Aldershot, was fined £269, told to pay £30 compensation and £85 costs and was disqualified from driving for 21 days on December 10 after pleading guilty to driving at 109mph in a 70mph limit on the A31 near Bentley on June 22.
