Nearly 100 families in Passfield had to spend a freezing night, shivering without heat or light after a power cut plunged their homes into darkness on Sunday.

On one of the coldest nights of the year so far – with temperatures dropping to -7C – the electricity went off at around 10.30pm, leaving some 300 families sat in the dark and temperatures plummeting as central heating systems failed.
