THE WHITEHILL and Bordon Regeneration Company (WBRC) has confirmed it will fell approximately 950 trees in phase 1 of its redevelopment at the Bordon and Oakhanger Sports Club (BOSC) pavilion.

It comes after a webinar held on Monday (January 18), brought to an end a month-long consultation on the plans.

WBRC project lead, James Child, confirmed that the team will “seek to retain high quality trees” at the BOSC, with trees falling into a category A or B saved from felling.

Trees under category A are deemed as trees of high quality and value capable of making a significant contribution to the area for 40 or more years, and category B trees are those of moderate quality or value capable of making a significant contribution to the area for 20 or more years,

Mr Child said: “The extent of the tree removal at BOSC Village is based on specialist surveys and thorough consultation with the planning authority.

“Approximately 10 percent of trees fall into category A and B, and circa 950 trees will be removed as part of the first phase of development.

“Our plans are for approximately 30,000 additional new trees to be planted by us, doubling the number of trees across the development area.”
