High Street has new shop

By Farnham Herald in Community News

CHARITY shop Resurrection Furniture has opened in Alton High Street after an anonymous donor guaranteed its first three year’s rent. Mayor Dean Phillips cut the ribbon on July 4.

Chairman of its trustees Robin Lees, in an opening speech, said it would be operated by a recently formed charity called Resurrection Trading. A group of 60 parish members had been praying regularly for the success of the venture, he added.

“The project is a fine example of what can be achieved by people working together to a common aim.

“Just to say thanks to everyone involved does not seem enough but I do so on behalf of the trustees from the bottom of my heart. Perhaps the best thanks will be to turn this effort to good purpose by creating an effective trading business that can bring benefits to our parish and the wider community of the town.”
